And so it begins...

Another year of snow and bitter cold. Whoopee.

First "official" snow of the year. 8 degrees on the way to school and ice everywhere. Good start to a white Christmas :)

Kody's Homecoming pictures

For those of you that know anything about Kody's personality these pics might be hard to believe, but yes, he did ask a girl to Homecoming! :) They took pics with the guns because they went shooting on their "day" date.

Harvest time!

Because no one has blogged for a while, I thought I would share with all what is just now coming out of our garden. We have had a plentiful harvest this year regardless of late snow storms, frosts and a major hail storm a little over a month ago that stripped most of our plants back to just the vines. Shone above are; beets, broccoli, bell peppers, 2 types of zucchini, and green beans. Exciting times for this former farmer!

Morgan was asked to sing the National Anthem at Benson's 4th of July celebration. We were very honored that she was asked and a little nervous, too. She was asked to sing right before the fireworks presentation started. We didn't know where she was going to be, or really what to expect, so that made it a little harder on the nerves. Okay, so mainly it was just me who was nervous, until we found out that she was going to have to wear these big headphones - then Morgan was a little worried, too. It was totally dark when she sang so our video picture is not great but at least you can hear it. We think she did a great job and are proud of her for being so brave.:) We had some people tell us that they stayed home or were watching the fireworks from a different spot and they could hear her. I guess between the breeze and the great sound system her voice carried. After it was over a couple came up and told us next year they would make sure she was up on the big screen while she sang. I said "next year? she's not doing it next year." But they had other ideas...
She is still hoping to get an award or prize from the mayor for doing this...so far no luck! :)

Before and a little nervous:

After, back to her normal self:

She graduated in the top 10% of her class of 725.
She also was awarded Excellent Student from the American Legion, voted on by all the teachers.
We are very proud of her and all of our kids! :)
